Excluding process from Real-Time scanning
This article applies to the following F-Secure products: Client Security, Policy Manager, PSB Portal, and Computer Protection.
Important: Wildcards are not supported in process exclusions.
To exclude a process from real-time scanning:
- Via Policy Manager
- Go to Settings.
- Switch to Advanced view.
- Navigate to F-Secure Anti-Virus > Settings > Settings for Real-Time Protection > Scanning Options > File Scanning > Inclusions and Exclusions.
- Click Excluded Process Enabled, and select Enabled from the drop-down menu.
- On the Inclusions and Exclusions node, click Excluded Process.
- Add newline separated list of processes that are to be excluded from real-time scanning, using the full file path of the process (e.g:
c:\program files\application\app1.exe
). It is possible to use system environment variables in process exclusion paths (e.g: %ProgramFiles%\Application\app1.exe
) - Click Distribute policies (Ctrl+D).
- Via PSB Portal (PSB Workstation Security and PSB Email & Server Security)
- Log in to your PSB Portal.
- Go Profiles > Workstation and server.
- Select the profile you want to apply the exclusion to.
- Select Scanning exclusions.
- Locate the Exclude processes from real-time scanning option, click on the slider to the on position.
- Add newline separated list of processes that are to be excluded from real-time scanning, using the full file path of the process (e.g:
c:\program files\application\app1.exe
). It is possible to use system environment variables in process exclusion paths (e.g: %ProgramFiles%\Application\app1.exe
) - Click Save and Publish.
- Via PSB Portal (PSB Computer Protection)
- Log in to your PSB Portal.
- Go Profiles > Computer Protection.
- Select the profile that you want to apply the exclusion to.
- Select Real-time scanning.
- Locate the Exclude processes option, and click the slider to the on position.
- Click Add exclusion.
- Add newline separated list of processes that are to be excluded from real-time scanning, using the full file path of the process (e.g:
c:\program files\application\app1.exe
). It is possible to use system environment variables in process exclusion paths (e.g: %ProgramFiles%\Application\app1.exe
) - Click Publish.
Note: If a process is executed from a network share, it is seen by Scanner Manager as \Device\Mup\<server>\<share>\<path>\app1.exe
. So it is possible to exclude these processes also.
