FSCS 13.10 Connection Control vs. VLC Player?
Dear Sirs,
I have experienced a strange event, possibly a false alarm in Connection Control:
- Win10 64-bit virtual machine protected by FSCS 13.10
- Wanted VLC Player, so I opened Firefox and visited "videolan.org"
- Clicked the "Cookies OK" button on the front page
- Clicked the blue "Download Now" button on the front page
- F-Secure Connection Control's bar appeared at the top of browser window,
asking me if I want to allow or block the download?
( Which is actually provided by a mirror, for example:
http://mirror.atomki.hu/videolan/vlc/2.2.8/win32/vlc-2.2.8-win32.exe )
- I clicked Allow but the download wouldn't start, showing Disabled or Disallowed in the browser's top bar. I had to click the Download button again to obtain the setup .exe file.
- Connection Control is enabled in FSPM 13.10 but the settings are all default.
Is this issue worth investigating further?
Thanks in advance, Yours Sincerely:
Tamas Feher, Hungary.

Hello Tamas,
I've tried to reproduce your scenario, and found the following:
Scenario 1. Connection control was not activated before:
I was able to open the videolan.org website and download the file from the original location and from the mirror you mentioned successfully, without any warnings/alarms from Client Security.
Scenario 2. Connection Control was activated before, by opening the bank website, and the Connection Control Popup window is present:
Attempt to download the file leads to showing a blocking page from Connection Control. This is by design. After pressing "Allow the website" button, i got standard browser download window, which was blinking, but still provides a possibility to download the file. Blinking problem has the same root as a known issue from release notes: "Web Traffic Scanning Advanced Protection blocking page may continuously refresh itself".
Best regards,
Vad
