Unable to update some hosts through Policy Manager Console

Hello there,

I'm having some troubles to update some Clients through Policy Manager Console,  Installation -> Update or when I try to update through "Push Install to windows hosts", where shows this message below:

When I install it manually with the .msi package it works, but we've got around 1500 endpoints to update, and we can't update those all machines manually. Why does it happen and what should we do?

    Hello felipassas,
Please check log c:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\Management Server 5\logs\fspms-webapp-errors.log at PMS host. Package export exception should show the reason...

BTW, what are PM and CS versions you are using?

    BR,
    Alexander

We are trying to upgrade the Client Security 12.00 to 13.10, but I think through Policy Manager Console it's doesn't allow to update patches with version lower than 12.30 to 13.10. Thta's why it works upgrading manually (by .msi).

    Thanks

Since PM/CS 12.00 there were just two major changes in CS-PM communication protocols:

    • CS 12.10 and newer version switched to HTTPS for policy/status traffic instead of plain HTTP used before
    • CS 13.00 and later are using GUTS2 protocol for delivering DB updates

Both changes do not anyhow affect upgrade process, but might cause communication problems after upgrade if strict FW rules are set at PM host.

As far as I understand, you are unable to export installation package (policy-based upgrade in fact also exports the package) that happens completely at PM side without any client communication, thus problem is somewhere else...

Please check logs c:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\Administrator\lib\Administrator.error.log and c:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\Management Server 5\logs\fspms-webapp-errors.log for possible exception on attempt to export installation package - that will shade the light...
