What to choose?

I’m currently testing both PSB and Business suite premium.

To my understanding PSB is somewhat less configurable than BSP and cheaper.

PSB:s view of what’s up to date and what’s needs attention seems better and simpler.

What do you recommend? I want the premium versions with software updater.

And what’s the difference between Client security and Antivirus for Workstation, the info I have found is very limited or unclear. All my clients are CAD-workstations. Is the Workstation client better tuned to heavy workload programs like Revit and AutoCAD?

Thanx for making things clearer

I will probably go with the PSB version (we only need 70 licenses).

CAD workstations are a good target for scripts so maybe client security is a better option.

FSAV PSB is good for up to 1000 client computers. There are two kinds of PSB venues, Basic and Advanced. In PSB Basic, the customer has in-house sysadmin, who uses a Cloud-to-browser user interface to manage his own flock of computers. In PSB Advanced mode, the IT security oblivious customers buy PSB licences, plus pay an F-Secure approved local IT-security shop, whose workers will manage the computer's security in lieu of the licencee.

In constrast, F-Secure Business Suite includes an in-hourse sited management tool called F-Secure Policy Manager, where the customer has to buy an F-Secure licence, provide hardware+OS to run F-Secure Policy Manager Server and provide an IT-security educated employee, who will do the managing via F-Secure Policy Manager Console. It is good for up to 5-15 thousands computers, but not recommended for very small amounts of clients, due to the solution's complexity.

I personally find the PSB web-based user interface confusing with its multiple horizontal tab bars and the need to use Profiles to manage PSB computers baffles me, but tastes differ.

The "F-Secure Anti-Virus for Workstation" (FSAV-WKS) product is primarily meant for older Windows desktops, which lack hardware muscle-power. Think 768MB-1GB RAM, Celeron or single-core CPU with Windows XP. It is a simplified protection suite and may interfere less with demanding CAD apps, compared to the all-encompassing F-Secure Client Security or PSB suites.

However, FSAV-WKS is not good for mobile computers, there you need Client Security (FSCS) for all-around security among Wi-Fi, 3/4G, BT, etc threats. Furthermore, CAD workstations are probably at risk of targeted attacks nowadays if you design anything sophisticated on those computers, therefore warranting a more powerful defence than FSAV-WKS.

Hello andreas,

Your understanding is correct. PSB solution assumes that you are not actively participating in administration of security product, shifting this duty to product experts. While BSP provides you maximum possibilities to tune the product exactly for your needs. So it's up to you to deside, what's more convenient for you.

Note that Antivirus for Workstation doesn't have Software Updater feature, as well as several other, like Firewall, Browsing protection, Device Control, E-Mail Scanning, Web Traffic Scanning.
