Rescue CD Question

Hi,

 

 I'm trying to run a scan using a rescue cd but it will not pull down the virus definitions. It says, "could not retrieve the virus database updates". This computer has a solid internet connection so I'm not sure what the problem is. The USB key I have is 8GB and is FAT32. The computer is Windows 7 64-bit. Thank you.

    Hi bgrapes,

    Have you tried with the latest version of Rescue CD v3.16 build 52606?

    You may test the connection by following steps too:

    - Boot up from the F-Secure Rescue CD but DO NOT start the scanning after booted up.
    - Switch terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 ~ F4.
    - Check IP address:
      # ifconfig
    - Do a ping test to known DNS server, e.g. Google DNS.
      # ping 8.8.8.8
    - continue pinging to fsbwserver.f-secure.com
    - Swith back to terminal 1 - press "Alt+F1" and start Scanning once network connections is verified to be working.
