Dear all,

As you may be aware already, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP on 8 April, 2014.

F-Secure business licensed products - F-Secure Client Security and F-Secure Anti-Virus for Workstations - will support Microsoft Windows XP with SP3 platform until the end-of-life of the 11-series products as stated on this page: http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/business_global/support/supported-products.

F-Secure PSB Workstation Security, a part of F-Secure Protection Service for Business (PSB), will cease supporting Microsoft Windows XP at the same time as the business licensed products.

F-Secure highly recommend customers to update their operating systems and use only Windows versions that receive security updates from Microsoft. The latest operating system version always provides the best protection technologies, are fully maintained by the vendor and receive timely security updates and improvements. F-Secure cannot guarantee the best protection and performance for customers running Windows XP after April 8th, 2014. This is because malware can use vulnerabilities in the operating system that are no longer fixed by Microsoft.

    Hi Dimitriy,

As you might be aware, Microsoft have now announced that they will now be supporting Windows XP  - a one-year extension on anti-malware support.

Can I now assume that F-Secure will also now continue supporting XP until such time as Microsoft really do end their support for XP?

If I do not get such a commitment from F-Secure then I will have no other option than to move to another company that have now publicly said they will continue support for XP eg Kaspersky

I do not want to move from F-Secure so I await to hear what they will now be doing in light of Microsoft's latest announcement.

    Regards Roochie

    Hi Roochie,

Microsoft will indeed provide support for their home and corporate antimalware products on Windows XP until July 14, 2015. This does not affect the end-of-life date of Windows XP, or the supportability of Windows XP for other Microsoft products, though. In other words, after April 4, 2014 Microsoft will continue publishing signature updates for Forefront and Security Essentials products, but will no longer provide any security updates, hotfixes or updates for Windows XP.

F-Secure will support corporate customers using Client Security 11.x or Anti-Virus for Workstation 11.x on Windows XP until the end-of-life of these products, which will be until July 3rd, 2016 according to the current  product life policy.
