Very high CPU usage for the process FSSM32.exe at startup
FSSM32.exe uses a lot of CPU whenever I start my computer, between 75-100%. Why does it do that? I can't use any programs for quite some time while it's doing whatever it's doing. Is there anything I can do to lower that high CPU usage.

I think it's normal for a short while during start up, but "for quite some time" it's hard to say.
Open a support ticket: http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/business_global/support/contact/request
and attach an FSDIAG file to it: http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/business_global/support/contact/fsdiag
so support can take a look at it.

Thank you, I'll try that!
I wonder though why it is considered normal for the process to go wild during startup?

I guess it does some important stuff + scans all files launched during start up including non-visible ones like services etc Don't know exactly.
If you're curios to get more information about a process you could check out programs like Process Explorer and Process Monitor from Windows Sysinternals:

An non-related example of what you might find using Process Monitor on fssm32.exe, which dll's & engines are used:
See anything interesting? Not all engines are F-Secures. F-Secure is also using BitDefender technology and I know they are not the only AV doing that.
Don't know if you find that interesting or not
(this is from a Home version of F-Secure but I guess it applies to Business versions too)

Hello santamonica,
it is quite usual that this process will be "boiling" at the system startup. Meaning also that all the other programs are powering up and start doing all kinds of things, which will be checked by the anti-virus procedures.
If the heavy load continues permenantly, I would also recommend to you to create a support case with a brief description.

Also add the Fsdiag:
