Configuring alerts from PM server rather than workstations/servers
Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way to configure alerts so that they were only sent from the PM server rather than the local host? At the moment we use SMTP which I'd like to re-configure it make this more secure.
Are there any other optiosn that we could use?
Regards,
Al

Hello,
I don't think it's possible or at least not without using external software. The F-Secure Management Agent (FSMA) runs on the endpoints and creates the alerts there, sending them to an SMTP server and/or PMS.
However, there is or there was an "F-Secure Email Reporting VB Script" that uses F-Secure Policy Manager Web Reporting (PMWR) to create MHTML and then send that file via e-mail. Scheduling is based on Windows Scheduling.
In more ancient times, there was something called "Policy Manager Reporting Option 5.50" which provided a command-line interface and you could have possibly scripted it. However, that was way before the transition from FSPM shared folder model to the H2 active database took place, so it is now a museum exhibit piece of software I think.

Hi Tamas,
Thanks for your post.
I'll have a look at the F-Secure Email Reporting VB Script.
I was thinking of using SNMP but think that this might take time for monitoring 30 machines.
The main aim really was to get away from relaying mail from every machine but keeping the simplicity with a solution.

Hello,
Thanks for your patience!
I think new additions made in the Web Reporting module of FSPM 11.30 may bring you some remedy. This new version is currently in partner-beta testing status since Friday. If historical trends are any indication, public release could be in the lastest days of 2014 or first days of 2015.
I don't know if I can give out more info, but maybe ask your local F-Secure partner or even F-Secure Corp support directly, for more detailed info concerning the new feature or a chance of beta participation?

Hi,
What is the latest on this subject?
We are setting upp PMS12 and CS12 on 200 clients at the moment and we are also having second thoughts about open up anonymous SMTP from all client networks to internal mail server. It's a question about security; we would also like to see some way that PMS forward Security Alerts to mail server when they occur.
I looked for this Vbscrip hack but could not find any.
Thanks
