Differences between "Client Security 9.20" and "Internet Security 2012"

Hello,

and sorry if this question was already answered, I had no time to do a community search.

A customer asked me, what the differences are between "Client security 9.20" and "Internet Security 2012".

I answered that client security is the business version and Internet security is for consumers. The consumer version has not the possibility for a management. But is that the main difference?

What are really the technical differences? Have both the same security level? Or could I say client security is better? Or more stable?

Hi Dimitry,

"Device Control" will only be available with Policy Manager 10 and management is a bit tricky. The feature will be regularly supported but still has the taste of a technology preview.

@Marketing: maybe someone could create a simple comparison chart!!

A couple of additions to what was mentioned already...Client Security 9.30 brings Device Control feature, which is not available in Internet Security. Then, if you are thinking of PSB, note that PSB Workstation Security does have Spam Control.

IS has some features that CS does not have:

- Parental Control (limit access times to the internet and URLs that users may access)

- Deepguard 4 will only be included later in CS

but CS with Policy Manager is a powerful tool in any company, as it allows managemet (settings) and central reporting from your seat. With IS on 5+ PC you spend a lot of time configuring each PC the same and still have no overview for each PC.

usually the questions come up when they see the difference in price, but explain the customer that TCO (total cost of ownership) for 10 FSIS is much higher than for 10 FSCS if you calculate admin time!

Anyway between 5 and 20 seats I would look into PSB not FSCS (for TCO).
