PSB Workstation client version 10.60 with full Windows 10 support release

PSB Workstation 10.60 is intended for new workstations that are already running on Windows 10 (clean installation). The client carries the same feature level as 10.50 with added Windows 10 support. Workstations that are running on older Windows OS are not required to be updated to 10.60. Version 10.60 is expected to be released mid-August 2015.

    Hello Tamas,

     

    We have currently PSB WS 10.60 RC2 available for partners.

    The plan is to release the product in the beginning of September.

     

    Note. Windows 10 Device Guard feature will not be supported in this release.

    Full support for this feature will be available in PSB WS 12 version.

    Installers for PSB1 and PSB4 can be provided on request by F-Secure support.

    The RTM version should be available very soon. I'll update this thread as soon as possible.

    We are still collecting feedback for RC2. Do you have any, BTW? RC2 is available for both PSB1 and PSB4, and has minimal differences with upcoming RTM.

    The plan is to publish RTM on the 2-th of September for PSB1 - PSB4.

    This version supports Windows 10.

    Hi,

    just to make this clear:

     

    PSB Workstation 10.50 works thru the upgrade from Windows 7 / 8.1 to Windows 10. So if you have Windows 7 / 8.1 and are using PSB Workstation 10.50 and upgrade to Windows 10, it is ok. The PSB Workstation 10.50 (and 10.10) was updated silently via update channel to support Windows 10.

     

    PSB Workstation 10.60 enables to use PSB with new Windows 10 computers. So it can be installed on a new Windows 10 machine which was not true for 10.50.

     

    PSB Workstation 10.50 and 10.60 are otherwise identical so there is no channel upgrade for 10.50 -> 10.60 as there is no need to upgrade the 10.50 to 10.60 in already installed machines.

    10.60 just added the support for the PSB Workstation to be installed in the new Windows 10 machines. For any new installation please use 10.60.

     

    There is still one thing of us to fix and that is Windows 10 Device Guard compatibility which atm we cannot yet guarantee. The next PSB Workstation release aims to have this fixed and is scheduled to be released in a couple of months. Do note that Device Guard is only available in Enterprise and Educational editions. With 10.60, Windows 10 Device Guard has to be turned off.

    This is not our experience.

    We have had some PC (Internally and at customers sites), where we upgraded Windows 8.1 to 10.

    After the upgrade, we installed F-Secure PS 10.50, which resulted in BSOD when we tried to log in to the PC's. After secure boot and uninstallation of PSB 10.50 the PC's went back to normal. (The PCs ran with F-Secure 10.50 before the upgrade, but was uninstalled in the upgrade procedure)

     

    We got the RTM version of 10.60 which worked as they should on upgraded PC's. Also the released version runs fine.

    I meant "if you have PSB Workstation 10.50 installed on a computer that has Windows 7 or 8.1 and upgrade to Windows 10, this is supported". For installing the PSB Workstation to a machine that runs Windows 10 but do not yet have PSB Workstation installed, you need to use 10.60. And of course, any new installation, please use 10.60. So the only way to have 10.50 on Windows 10 machine is if it was installed when not yet upgraded to Windows 10.

    1) So, no need to manually upgrade from 10.50 if installed it to Win7/8/8.1 and then upgraded to Windows 10. (as 10.50 and 10.60 are identical after installation; the only difference really is the 10.60 installer works with Windows 10)
    And of course, no need to upgrade from 10.50 in any computers that run XP*/Vista/7/8/8.1 either.
    10.60 is just to enable new installations to Windows 10 machines.

    2) Use 10.60 always with new installations as it can be installed on fresh Windows 10 machines also just like all the others too.

    I hope this helps to clarify!

    *) 10.50/10.60 is the last PSB Workstation with Windows XP support.

    Dear Sirs,

    In case of the Windows 10 PRO fresh system install, FSAV PSB 10.60 build 116 works ONLY if it is the very first software installed on the computer.

    However, if all Windows Update is applied or some application software (e.g. IrfanView, ArchiCAD, MS Office, VLC, WinRAR, Adobe Reader, etc.) is installed to the computer BEFORE the FSAV PSB 10.60 suite, then installation will be blocked with the error message "This app cannot be run on this PC with this Windows version" as shown in the attached screenshot!

    It appears Microsoft has released a Windows Update that has nasty, hidden functionality to block non-anglo-american antivirus vendors?

    (Maybe Microsoft has been served with a secret warrant by the FISA secret-court, which forces them to collaborate with NSA, in order to root out "renegade" antivirus companies who detect Five Eyes and Unit 8200 state malware?)

    Meanwhile we have received an official F-Secure explanation for the cause of such problems:

     

    Microsoft Corp. have recently published a cumulative update for Windows 10 (numbered KB-3093266) which blocks out FSAV PSB installation.

    We've just received this head-up:

    Dear all,

    This is just a short email to update everyone on the issue with Windows 10 where Microsoft’s cumulative update (KB3093266) prevented the client installation.

    We have successfully concluded all the tests on the planned fix in collaboration with Microsoft, and the fix will be released as a maintenance hotfix and does not require any actions from existing PSB customers.  The channel update is expected to take place on the 19th of October.

    A new version of PSB Workstation Security 10.60 is also available on all reseller portals (PSB1,2,3 and 4) and can already be used to install the product on Windows 10 where Microsoft’s cumulative update (KB3093266) is installed.

    Note: F-Secure Client Security 12 is not affected by this.
