How often does FSPM get AV Updates from F-Secure?

We are under an audit currently and they are asking to know how often FSPM gets the AV updates from F-secure? Are they pushed out at regular intervals? Does FSPM request them? How is my server knowing there is an update that it then downloads for my clients to download from it?

Every 30 minutes by default. The interval can be chaned, if needed.

AV updates are published 15-20 times a day. But there are no exact regular intervals.

FSPM receives all new relevant updates always when it communicate with the server.

> How is my server knowing there is an update that it then downloads for my clients to download from it?

PM has a cofiguration file, where all relevant channels (types of updates) are specified.

For that purpose, F-Secure products use the fully automated "Backweb / AUA" differential distribution technology.

You can expect receiving multiple "Aquarius" and "Hydra" detection updates every workday, even one dozen releases are not unusual! For example it is only 10:45 AM local time here, but we already have "F-Secure Aquarius Update 2017-02-22_06". There are also automatic updates released during the weekend time, but usually only a few per day.

(In fact, if the Policy Manager Server central management software is run on an older, slower hardware, it is not unusual to hear the HDD head move continously, as update downloads are automatically received, differentials get rebuilt, are released to endpoints, barely finishing the job before the next update already arrives. Because of that phenomenon, it is recommended to equip the Policy Manager host with SSD or fast 10/15k rpm rotation HDD based storage and provide ample RAM.)
