FSPM 12.31 Software updater cache
Hello all,
When I upgraded the policy manager to v12.31 I wanted to test the cached software updates straight away. At first it seems to work, but I can not confirm is the clients are downloading from the Policy manager instead of downloading from the internet. Is there a way to confirm that?
Also, I made the cache space a 100Gb instead of the default 10Gb. Is there a way for me to check what updates and how many updates are cached? This for maintenance reasons when the cache gets full.
Thanks!

Hello KennyVL,
The information about downloaded and distributed updates on PM can be found in PMC Summary page.
To check from what source a particular client download software updates, you will need to dig in ProgramData\F-Secure\Logs\Fsoftupd\fssua.log.
Best regards,
Vad

Hello Vad,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have checked the following path: C:\ProgramData\F-Secure\Logs and I don't have a folder "Fsoftupd". Also, if I search fssua.log trough all the content of "C:\ProgramData\F-Secure", I don't get any results.
I assume this means there is a problem with the my software updater configuration? I have doublechecked the console, and "Enable Software Updater" is checked for the root domain under: Settings > Software Updater.
Kind regards,
Kenny

Hello Kenny,
Note, that you need to check the log on the client machine (not PM) with Premium product version installed on it.

Hello Vad,
Thank you very much for your reply. Your solution to check if updates are being downloaded from the PM is the correct one! So this part of my question has been answered.
Is there any chance of me being able to see/manage the contents of the PM software cache?
Kind regards,
Kenny

You can check table swup_update_cache in the DB. This table contains file name in the cache folder, original url, download time and last request time. Downloaded content is saved at c:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\Management Server 5\data\swup\updates\

@A-Grinkevitch
Could you also add some information about
Rotation (when does the file get removed from the cache)?"Cache Full" handling
"Disk Full" handling
What is the minimum free diskspace that the cache obeys to keep the OS alive?
(remember that AUS-Installations will not work below 1.5GB free disk - which, BTW, needs to increased again due to growing Update size)
Is this beeing checked before, during and after download
Is the administrator alerted about a "... full" situation?
How to trigger a "PurgeCacheNow"?0 -
Cache is cleaned in a week after download
If cache is full, items with latest last access time is removed
Disk full error or free disk space are not checked, download is marked as failed and error is logged.
Info about failed downloads is cached for an hour, so next attempt to download will happen in an hour since first atempt. Within the hour, client will recevie error without any download attempts.
