H2 db growing close to 1GB per day
PMS/PMC 12.40 with hotfix1 was installed on Windows 2012R2 on July 20th
Currenlty less than 1000 clients.
Since installing version 12.40 monitoring software reported that free space on the 50GB volume (Drive E:) where the F-Secure server software is installed, is shrinking rapidly. Indeed the database grows, especially within last couple of weeks roughly 1 GB per day, and reached over 22GB
Database was restored from early Aug backup to 8.1 GB size and overnight it grew back to 9.5GB
F-Secure Policy Manager Server service was restarted, which brought DB size back to 8.6GB.
I have not run db-recovery tool yet, not even certain if this is going to have any impact on that 12.40 behaviour. Just checking with others if anyone else noticed similar behaviour.
TIA
Andrzej

Hello,
Seems that some hosts flood the PM with scanning reports, alerts etc. Try to figure out why that happens and stop it.
If you need our assistance to identify the reason, please provide fsdiag via support ticket.
PS: PMS does DB optimization on stop, that is the reason why DB size dropped a bit on restart.

I was monitoring the situation over last few days and wanted to report the update status.
It looks that the size of the restored DB is relatively static for last 5 days at 7.8GB.
I have not seen any significant number of Alerts or Reports before restoring DB, though.
The only unique factor potentially afecting the DB constant growth might be the fact that over last few month we were in a process of upgrading all PCs from Win7 to Win10 (on average 20-30PCs per day) and that project is almost completed.

Andrzej, if you reverted just the DB and logs are in place, could you please collect fsdiag and provide it to us. It is really interesting, why DB was growing so fast...

Alexander,
As you suggested (in off the forrum corespondence) running ....\F-Secure\Management Server 5\bin\fspms-db-maintenance-tool.exe is a much better approach than restoring database from backups.
Through that approach archived information (such as alerts and reports) is not geting discarded
Database wich grew over last few days from 7.8GB to almost 11GB was shrunk by that tool to barely 2GB
Cheers
Andrzej
