How can I find out if I am running 8 series anti virus program?

right click on the tray icon and select "info"

by program you mean software?
by 8 series you mean version?
if both are yes - try to search "about" when you right click F-Secure icon in try menu(on the taskbar)

Find F-Secure icon in the system tray, right click and select About menu. You should get the About box as follows:
If you see the major version is 8 after the product name (like F-Secure Client Security 8 in the attached screenshot), then you are using 8-series product.

Go to advanced settings, subscriptions.
if you upgrade form an existing installation you do not need to enter the new code. just skip the dialogue.
