XFENCE ON PSB Computer Protection for Mac will crash the system
We have the PSB Computer Protection on our company. I have the F-Secure Computer Protection for Mac installed on my MaBook Pro (macOS HighSierra, 10.13)
I noticed on Thursday, that in the Preferences, there is a new option to enable XFENCE. It was disabled by default.
Out of curiosity, I enabled it. All hell broke loose!!
I immediately got several requests by XFENCE, that various softwares request permission to run. The processes in question were all legitimate, so I clicked "Allow" (or maybe "enable", I cannot remember what the positive response was called, and I sure as h*ll am not going to retry to find out...!)
After those, more requesters started to pop up. This time the mentioned processes looked like MacOS core processes. The requesters popped up at an ever increasing pace (I started to regret enabling XFENCE at this point...) and before I was able to allow all, the system crashed with Kernel panic.
I rebooted the computer, only to find myself with more requesters from processes apparently from macOS - and immediately, a Kernel panic again.
I then knew my only way out is to act *really* quickly upon the next reboot. I left the requesters unanswered and went straight to Computer Protection Preferences and disabled XFENCE. I then immediately rebooted, then the system was able to run normally again.
