Hello,

I would like to ask a question about Windows updates. Could someone explain to me how Withsecure chooses which updates to download to a workstation and if it is possible to set it up that, for example, Withsecure only installs critical updates that are necessary.

    Hi @Peter8394

Thank you for reaching out the WithSecure Community,

WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection and Business Suite use the Software Updater feature to manage updates for Windows and third-party applications. Here's how it works:

Update Detection: The Software Updater scans computers to identify missing updates for both Windows and third-party software.

Automatic Deployment: It can automatically download and install updates, ensuring that systems remain secure against known vulnerabilities.

Exclusions and Manual Deployment: Administrators can set exclusions for specific updates or software, and also manually deploy updates if needed.

Critical Updates: You can configure the Software Updater to prioritize and install only critical updates. This can be done by setting the update policies to focus on critical updates, ensuring that only the most necessary patches are applied.

Periodic Downloads: The Software Updater periodically downloads definition files that include information about available updates, comparing these to the installed software to identify what is missing.

For detailed instructions on configuring these settings, you can refer to the WithSecure documentation below for better understanding.
