Unable to export msi: the package you are exporting is outdated

Hi,

I try to export an msi from the PM then get an error "The package you are exporting is outdated…" and are redirected to the WithSecure downloads. We've inported the most recent wscs-16.01.275.jar in the PM (16.10.99383).

PM runs on Linux, PMC on Windows.

Is there a solution for this?

When you see the error “The package you are exporting is outdated…” while exporting an MSI from Policy Manager, it usually means the installation package you imported isn’t compatible with your Policy Manager version—even if it’s the latest version number.

Here’s what you should do:

1. Download the latest installer package again:
   Go to https://www.withsecure.com/en/support/downloads and download the Client Security JAR file fresh. Even if you already have the latest version, download it again—sometimes the packaging changes after a Policy Manager update.
2. Re-import the package:
   In Policy Manager Console, remove the old JAR and import the new one you just downloaded.
3. Try exporting the MSI again:
   This should now work without the outdated package error.

Why does this happen?
Policy Manager 16.10 and newer require packages built for or after its release. Older packages (even with the same version number) might not work due to changes in how they’re packaged.

If you still get the error after these steps, make sure you’re not using a cached file, and try restarting the Policy Manager service. If the problem continues, contact WithSecure support with your Policy Manager and package details.
