Issue:
After F-Secure Email and Server Security upgrade from version 14.01 to 15.x, items cannot be released from quarantine. User receives the following error: "Quarantined email set to be released, which failed"
May I know why we are unable to release items from quarantined after migrate to F-Secure Email and Server Security 15.10?
Resolution:
We have a new version of fsavmsed.exe which fixes this issue, but first read through this F-Secure Community article to make sure that the issue is not caused by a misconfigured quarantine.
To verify that you are experiencing issue that can be fixed with the new fsavmsed.exe version, open the logs listed below from your local Exchange Server. The logs are located in the C:\ProgramData\F-Secure directory.
Quarantine.log:
Info Selecting Qid xxxxx for release
Error Operation failed for Qid 30566 The value is out of the expected range.
F-Secure.Ess.Config.log:
.W: FSecure.ESS_Installer.ViewModel.WizardPageViewModel: Login fqmuser exists
I: FSecure.ESS_Installer.SQL.ServerConnection: Password for 'fqmuser' changed
.W: FSecure.ESS_Installer.ViewModel.WizardPageViewModel: Could not set user 'fqmuser' as owner for db 'FSMSE_Quarantine'. Reason: The database principal owns a schema object in the database and cannot be deleted.
I: FSecure.ESS_Installer.ViewModel.WizardPageViewModel: Setected quarantine method is 'Local'

Once you have confirmed that you see similar errors, open a F-Secure support request and we will be able to send to you the new fsavmsed.exe version.
Once you get the new binary, follow the steps below to replace the old binary with the new one:
- Stop 'F-Secure Anti-Virus For Microsoft Exchange' Service
- Go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\Email and Server Security\Anti-Virus For Microsoft
- Replace old fsavmsed.exe with the new one
- Start 'F-Secure Anti-Virus For Microsoft Exchange' Service
