UPDATED 2.3.2023 with the addition of portal.withsecure.com
On Wednesday 8th of March at 18:00-20:00 (UTC+2) we will be making some changes to the WithSecure Business Account (formerly F-Secure Business Account), and we would like to introduce these to you in advance, so you are prepared when the change actually happens.
Please note that during the deployment of these changes, newly created users will not be immediately available for use, but they will become available after the change is completed.
Existing users will be able to login normally, but they may need to re-login again if they are using the services during the deployment.
What is the WithSecure Business Account?
The Business Account is used whenever you log in to one of the WithSecure services:
- WithSecure Elements
- WithSecure Countercept
- WithSecure Community
- WithSecure eService
- WithSecure Partner Portal
Why are we changing Business Account?
In order to make some much-requested features available for the Business Account, we need to change the authentication technology used behind the scenes. While we are not yet ready with these future features, we need to make the required changes to authentication in advance, so this current change is only the first step.
What is changing?
Usernames
When the changes occur, all existing usernames should continue to work as they do at present. Login credentials will be preserved during the changeover.
URLs
We will be introducing a new URL for the login service, login.withsecure.com. This URL should not normally be used directly by the user, it is used internally in the login flow.
Additionally, there is a new URL used in user self-service tasks such as account creation and editing, as well as password changing. This URL is portal.withsecure.com
However, users should be aware of the following:
- If the customer environment restricts the URLs that are allowed to be accessed, this URL should be added to any whitelist. Failure to add this will result in a failure to login to the WithSecure services. Note: This affects browser access to the WithSecure portals. Endpoints installations of the Elements software does not require access to this authentication URL.
PLEASE NOTE: The addresses login.withsecure.com and portal.withsecure.com are not intended to be used directly. They are used internally in the login flow.
User interface
Various parts of the user interface related to the Business Account will change. In this first part of the changes, only a few interface elements will change.
Login interface
Change Password
Account Settings
Set up Multi-Factor Authentication
What do I need to do?
Password Managers
Many Password Managers store the authentication URL, and not the actual end-service. If your Password Manager cannot provide your credentials to the web browser that you are using, you should update the entry in the Password Manager to use the new URL.
Multi-Factor Authenticators
During the changeover, all existing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) details will be preserved.
NOTE: If Multi-factor Authentication is used, it is MANDATORY that every account must be for a specific user, and not shared or handled by someone else on their behalf. If a shared account is in use, then MFA configuration cannot succeed, as the person changing the MFA information can break logins for other users.
Future changes
These changes will allow WithSecure to expand the ways which the Business Account can be used in future, with the possibility of federated authentication. Please note however, we cannot confirm any specific functional changes at this time.
What do I need to do if I encounter problems?
If you run into an issue in accessing your Business Account after the changeover is completed, please create a support request, and our team will look into the problem. For most users, this support request should go via your partner who sold you the WithSecure service you use.
